Decatur Heritage Christian Academy, serving grades K4-12, is seeking a skilled and dynamic Music and Band Teacher to inspire students through music education in a faith‑based learning environment. The ideal candidate will foster musical skills, creativity, and appreciation for the arts while supporting the mission and values of Christian education. This is a full time position. If you are interested in only a part time position, please let us know as there may be options to separate responsibilities into part time positions. Key Responsibilities Music Instruction: Teach general music classes using age‑appropriate instructional strategies Introduce students to music theory, rhythm, vocal techniques, and appreciation Plan engaging lessons that support musical growth and creativity Prepare students for performances, concerts, or school events as appropriate Band Instruction: Teach and direct the school band program Instruct students in proper instrument technique, music reading, and performance Rehearse and prepare students for performances and special events Encourage teamwork, discipline, and confidence through participation Join us in shaping the next generation of young people. Requirements

Previous experience in music education or as a band teacher
Experience with conducting and music arrangement
Ability to adapt teaching methods to different learning styles
Passion for music and teaching
Bachelor’s degree in Music Education or a related field
State teaching certification (preferred)
Proficiency in at least one musical instrument
Strong communication skills
Ability to manage a classroom and maintain discipline
Organizational skills for planning lessons and managing events
