Each ensemble’s performance will be judged based on the following Score Sheet – Rubric criteria regardless of student grade level, type of ensemble, or difficulty of music performed. Each rubric item score will be based on the entire performance. Participating ensembles attending for ratings should select music to showcase the best qualities of their ensemble.
According to the ABA Bylaws, ensembles performing for ratings must perform a Swing chart, a Latin chart, and another chart of the director’s choosing. More then three (3) charts may be performed as long as the 20 minute performance time is not exceeded.
Directors are encouraged to consider attending the event for Comments Only if they wish to participate without the rubric assessment scoring.
Best Soloist award will be provided to each ensemble whether they are performing for ratings or comments.
