Wind players must correctly play a minimum of five scales and their related arpeggios to
qualify for All State Band. All scales must be memorized. Any student found using scale sheets
during auditions will be disqualified.
Students will have 4 minutes from the first note of the CONCERT G scale to complete the scale requirements: 8 major scales, chromatic scale.
8 Major Scales and Arpeggios:
The scale order, in concert pitch, is: G, C, F, Bb, Eb, Ab, Db, Gb – 1 point for each scale, plus 1 point for each related arpeggio. These scales are to be played in eighth notes at a suggested tempo of MM quarter note =120. Please use the scale sheet provided by ABA to ensure you’re playing the correct octave/octaves.
